School Year Abroad offers study abroad scholarships for high school students
LAWRENCE, Mass., Oct. 18, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- School Year Abroad (SYA) is pleased to announce they will be offering merit-based scholarships to high school students applying for admission to each of their four schools in China, France, Italy and Spain. SYA is a yearlong high school academic study abroad program that allows students to live with a host family for an entire academic year while earning high school credit and preparing for admission to selective U.S. colleges and universities.
SYA offers two $20,000 Merit Scholarships per country for a total of eight scholarships. These grants are awarded to students who demonstrate exceptional academic ability, commitment to their school communities and passion for exploring other cultures, without regard to financial aid. Additionally, SYA offers The Halsey Scholarship to one student per academic year in the amount of full tuition plus a stipend for airfare. This award provides academically-exceptional and globally-minded high school students the opportunity to experience a rich academic and cultural education at SYA and in doing so, prepares them to become leading global citizens.
SYA awarded over $200,000 in scholarships, and over $3 million in need-based financial aid to the class of 2012-2013.
"SYA is thrilled to be able to offer scholarships again this year," said Director of Admissions Rachel Keegan Kelley. "We believe studying abroad is a necessity for U.S. high school students, and we are proud that we're able to provide that opportunity by offering scholarships to well-deserving students each year."
High school students in good standing from any accredited U.S. high school may apply to spend their junior or senior year with School Year Abroad. To learn more about each program, and to apply, visit www.sya.org.
