SAINT PAUL, Minn., Dec. 10, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Land O'Lakes, Inc. today announced that Rod Schroeder, Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer, Crop Protection Products, Winfield Solutions, will retire, effective April 30, 2013.
Schroeder has a long history of contributions to the co-op system, and most recently led the successful transition and integration of the Agriliance crop protection business into the Winfield Solutions organization. He's been a key leader in the continued growth of Winfield Solutions and in partnership with the co-op system. Throughout his career, Rod has also promoted and personally been involved in trade associations that advance the business of agriculture, including Crop Life America, Ag Retailers Association and The Fertilizer Institute.
As a result of this announcement, Mike Vande Logt will assume the role of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer in Winfield Solutions, effective January 1, 2013. Vande Logt previously held the title of Executive Vice President and Chief Operating Officer Seed, in Winfield Solutions and will now assume leadership of a combined WinField Seed and Crop Protection business upon Schroeder's retirement.
Mike earned his bachelor's degree in Agronomy and his master's degree in Plant Breeding from the University of Wisconsin, Madison. Immediately following graduation, he served as an extension service county agent and in a variety of sales, sales management and technical agronomy roles with SuperCrost Seeds.
Mike joined the Land O'Lakes Seed team in 1990, and advanced through various roles in corn product management, sales and marketing, until being named Chief Operating Officer for Winfield Solutions, Seed in 2008.
