Scoutmob Celebrates Earth Day With Handmade Goods And Gifts Made From Recycled, Repurposed And Reclaimed Materials
Purveyor of inspired goods by independent makers celebrates upcoming environment-focused holidays with creative recycling.
ATLANTA, April 20, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- To celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day, online retailer Scoutmob is taking the month of April to highlight their independent makers that reuse, recycle and repurpose materials to craft new handmade wares. Scoutmob is showcasing these environmentally conscious goods and gifts with two specially curated collections: one collection features products made using reclaimed wood and the second collection features products made from upcycled and salvaged materials. All of these unique goods were made with sustainable practices in mind by crafters and artisans across the United States.
Each of Scoutmob's two unique collections offer a variety of inspired goods, including furniture, home decor, men and women's accessories, kitchen wares and jewelry. The "Made from Reclaimed Wood" microshop contains rustic, industrial and modern furniture and decor with lumber sourced from old fence posts, retired barn doors, fallen trees and even home renovations. The salvaged woods are then upcycled into home wares such as floating shelves, wine racks, dining tables, tool boxes, sunglasses and more. The "Reused, Recycled, Repurposed" goods shop contains newly recycled wares constructed from pre-loved, discarded and unexpected materials: aprons and tote bags made from beer brewing clothing filters, lamps made from antique cameras and heaters, cameras turned lamps, hand-stitched billfolds made from well-worn, well-loved baseball gloves.
"We champion all small-batch, independently made goods, but these items are truly unique in the way materials that would otherwise be discarded are put to use," says Jarod Jones, head of merchandising at Scoutmob, "There's so much authenticity in every handmade product we offer, but there's added value in our reclaimed and repurposed goods as the story of these old materials are told in a new handmade creation. We hope these products will inspire our customers to make more informed purchases with a focus on high quality and positive environmental impacts."
Paul Heerin, Scoutmob CEO, adds, "The handmade revolution, at its core, is an environmentally conscious movement. Our makers are crafting their items in small batches and even made-to-order. Every day these makers are reducing the excess waste, unused inventory and energy demands that we see in mass production. Our model of working with independent makers is based on small scale, responsible manufacturing, using resources economically and only as needed."
The unique merchandise in these collections is handcrafted by independent makers across the US. In addition to these recycled wares, Scoutmob supports over 1,000 artists, offering over 8,000 hand-crafted and independently designed products across many lifestyle categories such as home decor, women's totes & bags, drinking & barware, men's grooming and more.
