Search Clinical Trials, a free service run by the non-profit Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP), connects people interested in clinical trials with information and relevant trials in their area.

BOSTON, Feb. 7, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Center for Information and Study on Clinical Research Participation (CISCRP) helps educate the public about clinical trials and performs free customized searches for those having trouble finding trials on their own.  This personalized service is called Search Clinical Trials (SCT).

Since 2008, SCT has educated over 5,200 people about clinical trials in their communities.  Whether people are seeking trials for an illness or as healthy volunteers, SCT staff is available to provide information.  Individuals can access SCT by filling out an online form (http://www.SearchClinicalTrials.org) or by calling CISCRP.  SCT staff strives to understand individual needs and provides clinical trials information by e-mail or USPS. 

Personalized support is a key component of SCT.  The majority of people who have used SCT report using online search engines to find clinical trials and becoming overwhelmed by the technical language and sponsored results that appear.  According to Robert C. of Florida, "Search Clinical Trials presents a clearing house that helped me contact researchers.  There is no way I would know how to find out who is doing research on my problem."  SCT staff sifts through multiple clinical trials registries to provide the public with relevant, timely information.

Everyone who contacts SCT receives a free copy of CISCRP's Education before Participation brochure.  The brochure outlines the clinical trials process and provides key questions people should ask before participating in a trial to ensure they are making an informed decision.  CISCRP is not involved in conducting or recruiting for clinical trials.  CISCRP is neither recommending nor endorsing any of the clinical trials it finds through the SCT service.
