Second Wind Pledges to Support President Obama's Clean Energy Goal With Continued Growth in 2011
President Obama's State of the Union address and focus on renewable energies validates Second Wind's mission to make wind the global energy source of choice
SOMERVILLE, Mass., Feb. 2, 2011 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- Following President Barack Obama's State of the Union address last week, Second Wind reaffirmed its commitment to make wind a primary source of clean, renewable energy to help solve the nation's environmental, economic and security challenges.
President Obama's proposed Clean Energy Standard sets a goal of generating 80 percent of U.S. electricity from clean energy sources, including wind, by 2035. Second Wind is already responding to this challenge in 2011 with aggressive hiring and the formal opening of its new manufacturing plant in Newton, Mass., which will help triple the company's workforce by 2014. Second Wind is committed to keeping its manufacturing operation in the U.S. and exports wind measurement technology products to China, India, Europe, and Africa.
