DALLAS, Nov. 21, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced today that it has acquired the exclusive rights to Jobview's 2nd Chance™ application and making it directly available to all customers.
Nearly 650,000 people are released from state and federal prison yearly and far greater numbers reenter from local jails. Each of them needs a job. Jobview 2nd Chance can help shorten the time it takes to find a job. "This is a significant part of our tablet program and recidivism strategy," said Richard A. ("Rick") Smith. "We need to help ensure those incarcerated, don't come back to prison. There's no better way than to help them get a job upon their release – that's good for them, society and their families. Finding a job before release AND getting more education are keys to reducing recidivism – and the Jobview product goes right to the heart of finding productive work," said Smith.
The Jobview 2nd Chance™ can be made available on a free standing kiosk, as a software desktop application and on Securus' SecureView Tablet.
The Jobview software services are used by correctional facilities, probation offices, halfway houses and other reentry locations to allow individuals returning to the community to search for current jobs, from secure or non-secure locations. The secure version of Jobview functions without having access to a keyboard or the internet. The Jobview user interface is intuitive so no training is required, even for those who have never used a computer. Jobview gives reentry users a 30-60 day head start on finding a job.
"Jobview has been used by the Federal Bureau of Prisons and other locations for years. It's widely known how critical jobs are for reducing recidivism. We are excited that Securus is dedicated to providing this solution to their customers so that more inmates can take advantage of it and find jobs so they are working upon release," said Robert ("Bob") Bro, CEO of Jobview. "With the large Securus Sales Team – and our product – we will achieve much larger penetration in a largely unpenetrated market," said Bro.
