DALLAS, March 2, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigation, corrections and monitoring, announced today that it has made a substantial investment in Centennial, Colorado based Cottonwood Creek Technologies, a manufacturer of the "S" (Securus) Phone. The "S" Phone allows inmates to interactively access multiple sources of information and is powered by low telephone voltage which eliminates the need to run AC power to each phone.
Alan Schott, President/Principal and Dwight Kitchin, Principal of Cottonwood Creek Technologies said, "We have worked with Securus Technologies for over five (5) years developing the "S" Phone – and are pleased with the performance of the product – it is more than state of the art inmate communications – it is 2 to 3 generations beyond inmate phones in use today. It is smaller, it is audio AND video, it does not require AC power, it has the ability to provide hundreds of features, and it is more cost effective for Securus."
Richard A. ("Rick") Smith, Chief Executive Officer of Securus Technologies said, "This technology will save us $160 million over the next ten (10) years as we change out standard analog/non-video inmate phones to "S" Phone interactive technology. More important than the savings – are the features and functionality that we will deliver to inmates and the corrections industry – video calling, email, commissary ordering, downloading books, downloading music, finding jobs post release, improving educational opportunities, improving health care – all of these will be delivered by the "S" Phone. I expect this technology will make inmates transition back into society better and recidivism will be positively impacted."
