DALLAS, Feb. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Securus Technologies, a leading provider of civil and criminal justice technology solutions for public safety, investigations, corrections and monitoring, announced today that distribution of its SecureView inmate tablet will top 2,000 units.
The SecureView tablet hosts a variety of applications designed to improve inmate morale, create a safer environment, and improve inmate education, all while reducing recidivism. While other providers are looking to sell services to inmates, the SecureView tablet includes many education and job placement applications. Securus will provide tablets to inmates for a monthly recurring price.
Richard A. "Rick" Smith, CEO of Securus Technologies said, "We are excited about the customer response to our tablet. It is a great tool for inmates to use to stay in contact with their families and help them find jobs after their release. We want to keep the inmate in better contact with those friends and family members who can positively influence them – getting a job, more education, a better quality of life, and NOT returning to prison after release. That is what we are building at Securus with our tablet– a game changer for our corrections' partners and inmates."
"Other providers make the inmate pay over $180 for a tablet. If he or she is incarcerated for just a month, that's really expensive and really prohibitive – which defeats the purpose," said Luke Keiser, Director of Strategic Marketing for Securus. "Through our initial tablet program, inmates overwhelmingly enjoy the privacy the tablet gives them for phone calls along with the games, music, and access to information such as Law Library and JobView," said Keiser.
