See, Grab, Save a Life: Creators of Life Saving Calendar on Mission to Spread First Aid Knowledge, Improve Health Literacy, Encourage Bystanders to Be Proactive
RENO, Nev., Jan. 6, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Although only the size of standard letter paper and composed of a thin sheet of plastic, the Life Saving Calendar can have an immeasurable impact – it can literally save lives. On one side, the tool is a one-year calendar that can be affixed to any wall, refrigerator or door; the other side consists of pictures representing essential, life-saving information relevant to the most common emergencies. The developers of the calendar have launched a crowdfunding campaign to help make this vision a reality.

In the event of a medical emergency, such as choking, bleeding or sudden fainting, a witness can quickly grab one of the two pull tabs on the Life Saving Calendar and tear it away from the wall. The back side of the calendar conveys basic first aid information in a format that's easy to see, read and put into action, with no special training required. Both experienced first responders and lay persons can follow the printed steps.
"We designed the Life Saving Calendar to be durable and functional," explained company Founder Zoltan Zergenyi. "The calendar does not replace first aid and emergency response training, but rather provides a convenient reminder for those who need it. Seconds matter when someone is choking or unconscious, and no ambulance can arrive fast enough in such instances. The Life Saving Calendar helps people take the right steps without delay."
Statistics reveal the absolute necessity of having emergency first aid information handy in the home, where one third of all unintentional injuries occur. Likewise, each day in the U.S. sees more than 1,000 people experience cardiac arrests, most of them at home. For obvious reasons, more accidents and emergencies happen at home than anywhere else.
Of course, people can and do get into trouble outside of the home as well. That's why it's wise to have a Life Saving Calendar anywhere two or more people are likely to congregate, whether it's a workplace, shopping mall, gym, dorm or public building.
The Life Saving Calendar also comes with a thin, printed Tyvek sheet featuring all of the life-saving information from the back of the calendar; the sheet is designed to be easily carried anywhere in a bag, pocket or purse.
About Life Saving Calendar LLC
Founder Zoltan Zergenyi is a father, husband and entrepreneur. The idea to improve general first aid came to him well back in his childhood. Years later, Zergenyi's family business began educating dentists; at that point, basic life support courses came to the table. The earliest version of the Life Saving Calendar was born about five years ago, but that iteration was not quite ready for prime time. The final version came into focus this year.
