Seeking Nominations for Virginia's Next Outstanding Scientists
RICHMOND, Va., Aug. 28, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The Science Museum of Virginia is now accepting nominations for Virginia's Outstanding Scientist of the Year Award for 2012.

For the past 28 years, this program has honored Virginia scientists who, through their research and commitment to science, have made our world a better place. Scientific advancement is a key to our future economic security and this is a wonderful opportunity to celebrate the great work taking place in Virginia's universities and research centers.
Nominees need to have a tie to Virginia either through birth, work and/or the effect of that work on Virginia. Past winners include internationally recognized geneticist Dr. Francis Collins , Massey Cancer Center Director Dr. Gordon Ginder , Hampton University ozone researchers Dr. M. Patrick McCormick and Dr. James M. Russell III and NASA Langley Research Center Senior Research Scientist Dr. Joel Levine .
