PALO ALTO, Calif., April 8, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- SelfScore, a fintech company offering the first MasterCard for international students, today announced Vinni Bala as its new Chief Marketing Officer. Based in SelfScore's Palo Alto office, Bala will lead the company's marketing strategy, programs, branding and overall positioning.
Vinni Bala joins SelfScore with nearly 20 years of experience in advertising, consumer marketing and banking, most recently at Wells Fargo Bank where he served as the Head of College and Secured Credit Card business. After setting record-breaking growth during Bala's tenure at Wells Fargo, the College and Secured Credit Card business continues to play a major role in providing credit for customers seeking to build a credit history. Bala also led direct marketing strategy for Wells Fargo's Student Lending Division and led marketing programs to grow Citigroup's Citi Cards Cash and Rewards segment. Bala holds a bachelor's degree from Creighton University and an MBA from Fordham University.
"As a first-generation Indian American, I relate to the struggles of the international student population and I commend SelfScore's mission to open the doors of the U.S. financial system to the underserved," said Vinni Bala. "Credit can be empowering and everyone should have access to it, especially when these individuals have taken a huge personal risk by immigrating to the United States for college."
"Vinni is a seasoned leader who will bring a wealth of experience in direct marketing and product strategy to SelfScore," said Kalpesh Kapadia, SelfScore CEO and founder. "I'm excited to have Vinni on our team so we can help millions of international students find an on-ramp for financial independence."
