Send Anywhere unveils 2.0 version making file transfers simpler, faster, and more secure
New versions of the iOS and Windows apps include enhanced file management, security, and sharing features.
SAN FRANCISCO, Sept. 30, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Send Anywhere is announcing an updated version of its iOS app and a Windows phone app today, making it easier than ever for users to securely transfer files across devices.
Send Anywhere provides simple, unlimited, and instant file transferring with just a 6-digit code -- at anytime, from anywhere, to everywhere. The new apps present a fresher, more sleek design, as well as a number of new features that improve the user experience.
The My Documents feature in the iOS app collects and categorizes files for all previously received data. End users can avoid wasting time by searching for items they received months ago, because all the files are organized and in one place. The History functionality takes file management a step further. It allows users to locate sent, as well as uploaded files. This feature also comes with the ability to resend and delete any file within the application.
The latest iOS version of Send Anywhere provides options for enhanced security as well. The app(s) offer(s) more complex encryption codes which are available by swiping upwards during the file transfer process.
Finally, the update provides a clipboard and sharing feature that simplifies the process of connecting two devices. Before, users could quickly connect with recently used and nearby devices. Now holding the middle of the "send" screen will automatically copy the 6 digit transfer code and make it ready for disbursement. On the same screen, clicking the "share" button prompts a window which allows users to share that code across various email and messaging clients.
The new Windows app includes the basic sending and receiving capabilities. The simplicity of the release enables Send Anywhere to develop a strong base from which to build out the Windows offering. With the release of the Windows app, Send Anywhere is now compatible with all three major smartphone platforms, as well as the Web browser and PC. This furthers the company's push towards becoming the most readily available file transferring application on the market.
Advancements in cloud technology has caused people to share more content than ever before. However sharing that content via the cloud is not necessarily the most efficient method. It requires signing up and creating an account, uploading content to a server that could be a long distance from the users' device, not to mention security concerns that arise from sending and storing data on those servers.
Send Anywhere's peer-to-peer file transfer technology takes a different approach. Users don't need to sign-up, log-in, or know their recipients' contact information. They simply select the files they want to send and get a six-digit one-time key that is only available for 10 minutes before it self-destructs. They send that code to the recipient (or to another one of their own devices), who enters it to access the files -- no middlemen required.
Send Anywhere is the first product created by ESTmob, a Seoul, Korea-based startup that comes up with innovative ways to help people using multiple devices. It was founded in 2012 and is backed by Rakuten Ventures, Andrew McGlinchey, Andy Warner, and others.
