SAN LUIS OBISPO, Calif., Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Investment firms will need to think creatively and act aggressively in 2016 to land senior sales and marketing talent, according to the Seventh Annual Executive Survey from Kathy Freeman Company, a national, retained, executive search firm.
Reflecting the increasingly difficult task of recruiting new talent, this year's survey, The Disconnect Between Intent & Execution, focused on why senior sales and marketing executives in the investment industry continue to be highly selective when accepting an offer outside their current firm.
The survey found that 66% would consider a move in 2016 – the second highest percentage since Kathy Freeman Company first asked the question in 2009. Despite a willingness to consider a move, few are actually doing so, the survey found. In 2015, just 15% of respondents took a position outside their firm, even though 58% said they would consider a new opportunity in last year's survey.
"The survey is crystal clear: There's a huge disconnect between an executive's openness to a move and actually making a move," said Kathy Freeman Godfrey, CEO of Kathy Freeman Company. "As a result, employers will face another tight market for top-tier talent in 2016."
The report includes five major industry trends and offers recommendations to attract and retain executive talent. The findings include the following:
"To succeed in this market, employers must provide an opportunity that is compelling on all fronts," Freeman said. "That means an increase in compensation, equity participation, a positive corporate culture, strong company leadership and an appreciation for diversity. Without these essential elements in place, most executives will be content to stay put."
