Seniorlink's Caregiver Homes is the first organization in the U.S. to be awarded the three-year Accreditation status for Case Management with Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Distinction. This is the highest level awarded by NCQA, whose program recognizes an organization's excellence in coordinating quality patient-focused care for people with long-term and chronic conditions. NCQA implements a rigorous review process for this accreditation, covering 11 standards for quality.
BOSTON, Aug. 29, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- Seniorlink, Inc., a leading provider of care collaboration solutions, is pleased to announce that its intensive in-home care subsidiary, Caregiver Homes Network, is the first healthcare organization in the U.S. to receive three-year Accreditation for Case Management with Long Term Services and Supports (LTSS) Distinction from the National Committee for Quality Assurance (NCQA).
The three-year accreditation is the highest level of achievement awarded by NCQA, an independent non-profit organization dedicated to assessing and reporting on the quality of health care organizations. NCQA's Case Management Accreditation is a comprehensive, evidence-based program that evaluates the quality of case management programs in provider, payer and community-based organizations.
Seniorlink offers a unique set of care collaboration solutions that balance human touch and technology. The company's intensive in-home care subsidiary, Caregiver Homes, provides direct support to family caregivers caring for patients with complex or chronic diseases. After almost two decades successfully managing this care model, Seniorlink applied the insights gained to create Vela, a novel care collaboration technology to integrate family caregivers and care providers in the care management of complex patients. This HIPAA-secure platform connects care providers, including nurse case managers, patient advocates and pharmacists, directly with patients and family caregivers, resulting in high-quality care delivered efficiently at scale.
"Seniorlink is honored to have Caregiver Homes Network recognized by NCQA for its commitment to upholding the highest standards of care. I am especially proud of both our dedicated care teams and our Vela technology platform as each plays an important role in serving complex individuals at home," said Chief Executive Officer Thomas Riley. "Our organization has a unique focus on the family caregiver as central to coordinating care in today's healthcare system. We believe that engaged caregivers, talented clinicians and patient-centered mobile technology are the essential ingredients to improving outcomes and lowering costs."
This is the second time that Caregiver Homes was awarded accreditation by NCQA. In 2014, Caregiver Homes was the first Home and Community Based Services (HCBS) provider in the nation to receive NCQA Case Management Accreditation.
"Americans are increasingly relying on Long Term Services and Supports to help them remain independent in the community with choice about who provides their care," said Margaret E. O'Kane, President, NCQA. "NCQA created the LTSS accreditation programs so that organizations like Caregiver Homes can demonstrate their commitment to coordinating high-quality, effective person-centered care that meets people's needs."
NCQA Accreditation is a voluntary nine-to-12-month review process. Its accreditation program for Case Management with LTSS distinction, announced in July 2016, is NCQA's newest program and covers more than 11 standards for quality.
