Service2Media and Nokia Partner to Encourage Further Growth of Windows Phone Apps
~ Growing number of apps are demanding tighter integration
AMERSFOORT, The Netherlands, Feb. 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Service2Media, worldwide provider of advanced app solutions for smartphones and tablets, consolidates its Global Alliance Network via closer cooperation with Nokia. On Service2Media's App Lifecycle Platform an app can be easily developed for several different operating systems, including Microsoft Windows Phone OS.
As part of the partnership, Nokia offers technical support to Service2Media platform developers. Nokia has provided Service2Media with Nokia Lumia 800 smartphones, ensuring their developers easy access to the devices and the ability to test Windows apps immediately and at all times. This makes it significantly easier for developers to offer more apps for Windows Phone.
The Windows Phone platform is growing fast, and independent analysts expect even more growth. In December 2011 the platform grew on the average of 265 apps per day, in January 2012 this number grew to an average of 400 apps per day. The Marketplace currently has more than 55,000 apps and is the single fastest growing platform in the world.
The app market entered into a mature phase, which means that businesses are increasingly looking for an ecosystem of organisations that manage and anticipate the various needs in technology as well as the tremendous growth in new and enhanced devices. The partnership enables Service2Media to provide new Nokia features at an early stage of development, by integrating them in the App Lifecycle Platform. This enables organisations to build apps that meet and stay up to date with the latest OS and device release.
Organisations no longer have to choose which target group they want to approach. Geert Kolthof, CEO Service2Media: "Your clients are everywhere, so you want to develop an app that is accessible for all operating systems. By making use of one single platform that services all mobile operating systems, cost savings are realised and market reach is expanded. This certainly is much cheaper and efficient than building and managing a completely new app for every operating system."
"Since Microsoft and Nokia collaborate, we see that the Windows Phone platform is becoming more and more popular, thanks to our introduction of the popular Nokia Lumia 800 and Lumia 710," says Sebastiaan van Silfhout, general manager Nokia Netherlands. "Consumers are getting more familiar with this operating system and really appreciate the quality of our Nokia Lumia smartphones which have a splendid design, an incredible clear screen and free navigation. With this cooperation we want to further support app growth in the Marketplace as a partner of Microsoft."
Service2Media and Nokia both participate in the Mobile World Congress 2012, taking place in Barcelona from February 27 until March 1.
