Seventh Street Bypass in Harrisburg to Re-open at Noon
Normal traffic patterns to resume
HARRISBURG, Pa., Dec. 20, 2012 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- The North Seventh Street Bypass in downtown Harrisburg will re-open today at noon after an 18-month closure during construction to replace the 40-year-old electrical substation that powered the state Capitol Complex.
Normal traffic patterns will resume meaning all through-traffic turning right from Fifth Street onto Walnut Street will no longer be redirected eastbound across the State Street Bridge.
The bypass was closed on June 13, 2011, and is opening on schedule.
The substation replacement project, which is near completion, included construction of a new building, the demolition and replacement of units and the installation of a feeder distribution system.
