With all the information collected, a few key insights were particularly compelling. Namely that, while most organizations are still using SharePoint 2013 (82% to be exact), there are signs of a shift in momentum towards the cloud. In fact, 61% of organizations are running either a hybrid or full cloud environment.
On the other hand, while Office 365 is gaining users on a consistent basis, those still adamantly clinging to on-premises versions, 36% of surveyed organizations to be precise, seem do be doing so based on concerns over cloud security. That speaks volumes about the future of SharePoint On-Premises and Office 365.
On the importance of this survey, Simon De Baene, CEO at Sharegate, says: "We thought it was important to get together with our leading partners in SharePoint collaboration, Nintex and Hyperfish, to launch this study. The industry insight provided by this exercise helps us understand where our clients are coming from. At its core, it tells us that the industry needs to help users understand that moving to the cloud is the safest move they could make."
