Shaw's and Star Market Voluntarily Recall LaCarte Grab & Go Hummus Snack Pack in Cooperation with Sabra Dipping Co. LLC's Hummus Recall Due to Possible Listeria monocytogenes Contamination
WEST BRIDGEWATER, Mass., Nov. 21, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- In cooperation with the Sabra Dipping Co., LLC (Sabra) voluntary recall of certain hummus products due to possible Listeria monocytogenes contamination, Shaw's and Star Market stores are recalling LaCarte Grab & Go Hummus Snack Packs. The product contains hummus provided by Sabra.
Listeria monocytogenes is an organism, which can cause serious and sometimes fatal infections in young children, frail or elderly people, and others with weakened immune systems. Healthy individuals may suffer only short-term symptoms such as high fever, severe headaches, stiffness, nausea, abdominal pain and diarrhea. Listeria infection can cause miscarriages and stillbirths among pregnant women. The company is issuing this recall out of an abundance of caution.
LaCarte Grab & Go Hummus Snack Packs are sold from the self-serve deli area and consist of a clear, four-compartment clamshell container with hummus, carrots, celery and pita chips. This recall impacts all packages with "Sell Thru" dates up to and including 11-25-16 (November 25, 2016) for UPC number 20583700000. The UPC is printed on the white scale label affixed to the product.
No illnesses or injuries have been reported in connection with the Shaw's and Star Market recall. The recall is being issued out of an abundance of caution.
