Sherpaa Health Names Cheryl Swirnow as CEO
To lead Sherpaa's quest to reinvent healthcare in the enterprise
NEW YORK, Nov. 12, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- Sherpaa Health, Inc. today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Cheryl Swirnow as Chief Executive Officer. Jay Parkinson, MD, MPH, will assume the new position of Chairman/Chief Medical Officer. Both Swirnow and Parkinson co-founded Sherpaa and continue to serve as Directors on the company's Board.
In announcing Swirnow's appointment, Josh Guttman, Partner at SoftBank Capital and member of Sherpaa's Board of Directors said, "Cheryl's considerable leadership skills and experience in Operations, Human Resources, and Sales make her the right person to navigate Sherpaa through today's highly complex healthcare marketplace. Sherpaa's product is extraordinarily valued by its customers and we're fortunate to have Cheryl in this leadership role as the company begins the next phase of growth."
Swirnow's appointment comes on the heels of several major announcements from the company. In April, SoftBank Capital, a leading venture capital fund, led a $4 million Series A round of financing in Sherpaa Health. Since then, the company has tripled the number of human lives covered by its service.
As CEO, Swirnow will provide the vision and lead the strategy and direction of the business. "We are at a pivotal time in the evolution of attitudes towards healthcare in this country. I feel privileged to have the opportunity to lead Sherpaa as we revolutionize the way in which employees receive health care and experience their benefit providers," explained Swirnow.
A graduate of Cornell University with a concentration in Human Resources, Swirnow has 15 years of experience in corporate benefits and hospitality. She has worked with some of the nation's leading organizations including Four Seasons Hotels and Resorts, Nike, The Barbarian Group, and Rent the Runway.
