Shop with Your Bestie - New Social Shopping Community for Fashion & More
Post Your Product Finds, Share with Your Friends, Follow Other Users & Stores, Get Merchant Promos & Click to Buy - All from One Site
TORONTO, Aug. 19, 2014 /PRNewswire/ -- If you're tired of slogging through dozens of websites and apps in a quest for the coolest clothes, hottest accessories and hippest products from vegan purple hair dye to $37,000 Rolex watches, meet Bestie – your new shopping BFF. This just-launched social shopping community lets you post your own faves, browse finds from other contributors, shop top brands from Nasty Gal to Nordstrom, share and comment on your discoveries, find merchant discounts ranging from 30-70%, and click to buy any item from the original seller – all from a single web or mobile app.
Available for iPhone and Android as well as online, Bestie is part fashion finder service, part virtual mall, and part social network for shopaholics. Content is contributed by you, your friends and fellow community members; professional staff curators who are paid to unearth the Bestie of the best; and hundreds of top brands and boutiques like Bebe, Bloomingdale's, Etsy, FreePeople, Net-a-Porter, Shopbop and Victoria's Secret. Simply choose the users and stores you want to follow, and new posts from your favorites will then turn up in a one-at-a-time Instagram-style feed for easy scrolling and shopping.
Product, user and store recommendations are personalized based on your browsing behavior, product bookmarks, and established user and store preferences. Select "Most popular with users I follow" option from a dropdown menu of search options on the Bestie shopping page, and Bestie will serve up items that have been posted, saved or tagged by community members with similar tastes. (Into goth? No slip dresses for you!) Click on any product page, and the lower right corner will display suggestions of users and stores with common interests that you can add to your follow list with a click.
Bestie also lets you:
- See merchant promo codes without leaving the site and hunting for them yourself. Bestie's technology automatically lists any live promos available for a given merchant and updates them in real time, helping community members get the best online deals. (This feature is currently available on the Bestie website, which is optimized for tablets and mobile phones; coming soon for iOS and Android apps.)
- Save any item in a "Gifts I want" folder, or organize your favorite products into collections that you create and manage.
- Add hashtags to any product simply by posting a comment on the product page and including a keyword tag like #sexy, #wedge or #headphones. Hashtag pages are created automatically when products are tagged and show the most recently hashtagged products with that tag first, making it easy to keep track of product categories of interest simply by searching for specific hashtags like #shorts, #funny, or #shoes.
- Share favorite products with friends by typing @Bestieusername or @Facebookname in a product comment. Each friend you tag will receive a notification from you.
"We started posting products that our curators were finding interesting several months ago when our website was just a shell with no functionality, and suddenly we had 16,000 Facebook followers. That showed us that people were hungry for a place to find unusual products from $24 crochet dresses to $2,000+ designer jackets that fit their personal style and tastes," said Bestie cofounder Gary Lipovetsky. "Now that we're live, it's like having thousands of personal shoppers hunting for products and deals and bringing them to you all in one place. It's a whole new way to shop."
