NEW YORK, Jan. 11, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Silver Lane Advisors LLC, a premier investment bank that specializes in the financial services industry, announced that Peter van der Meer has joined as Managing Director and Head of Insurance Investment Banking. He most recently was Senior Managing Director and Head of Insurance Banking at Guggenheim Securities.
"I'm very pleased to join Silver Lane," said Mr. van der Meer. "The firm has built a wonderful reputation for client commitment through longstanding relationships, a tireless work ethic and exacting values. I look forward to further enhancing the growth of Silver Lane's unique platform by launching a highly complementary insurance industry advisory practice."
Over a 30-plus year career, Mr. van der Meer has advised on more than 165 insurance deals -- including the formation of various offshore insurance and reinsurance companies, as well as M&A transactions and capital raises for insurance companies both domestically and abroad. Prior to Guggenheim, Mr. van der Meer founded and was Head of Insurance Investment Banking at FBR, and was Managing Director and Head of Non-Bank Financial Institutions at ABN AMRO North America. He spent the first 17 years of his investment banking career with J.P. Morgan's financial institutions group in New York, London, Madrid and Amsterdam.
"Peter is a seasoned and well respected insurance banker; we are pleased to welcome him to Silver Lane," said Elizabeth Nesvold, the firm's Managing Partner. "Insurance is a core addition to our investment banking franchise. In 2015, and only in our eighth year in business, we were tied as the #1 sell-side M&A advisor to Securities & Investment Management firms, according to SNL Financial. We added bank M&A capabilities two years ago, and believe Peter's proven ability to deliver innovative solutions to insurance clients will be a great addition to our platform."
