CHICAGO, Feb. 24, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Silveus Financial, a national crop risk management leader whose connected methodology is changing the way farmers think about risk, has announced a partnership with the Illinois FFA, formerly Future Farmers of America, to enhance its agribusiness risk management education program.

Silveus Financial will work with teachers to develop classroom curriculum in the form of instructional videos, practice materials, and quizzes, and will sponsor the Agribusiness Management Career Development Event Competition.
"The Illinois FFA is proactively partnering with industry leaders so we can expose students to what is happening right now in farming," says Mindy Bunselmeyer, Illinois FFA Center. "Silveus Financial has developed cutting edge technology that gives farmers an enterprise view of risk management strategies and how they are all performing together. For agriculture students to succeed in today's marketplace, we need these emerging best practices to be taught in our classrooms."
Silveus Financial works with producers and grain aggregators across the country to visualize risk and scenario plan customized solutions. Its proprietary nCompassTM software accounts for input costs, insurance, cash sales, structured trades, futures and options in an interactive environment – allowing farmers to make informed decisions that balance profits and risk across a wide range of possible price and yield scenarios.
"We are excited to share what we know about risk management with this next generation of farmers, and we fully expect to learn as much as we teach as part of this project," says Cy Monley, Silveus Financial founder and managing principal. "Our approach to risk management is transformative to farmers who are used to 'set it and forget it' strategies, however our model will likely be instantly embraced by teenagers who have come to expect instant access, up-to-date data, and customization from any service."
A statewide board of agriculture teachers will advise Silveus Financial on all curriculum and contest development. Silveus Financial will present awards to statewide crop risk management contest winners during the state FFA convention in June 2016.
