Sitecore Acquires Leading E-commerce Vendor commerceserver.net
Acquisition brings fully integrated e-commerce capabilities to Sitecore's experience platform
SAN FRANCISCO, Nov. 20, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sitecore, the global leader in customer experience management software, today announced that it has acquired commerceserver.net. Sitecore's acquisition lays the foundation for the industry's first .NET based, enterprise-grade Customer Experience Management (CXM) platform with a native, fully integrated e-commerce engine.
The integration of e-commerce functionality with Sitecore's leading experience platform allows marketers to truly own the experience they deliver to every customer or prospect that engages with their brand, creating high-value customers for life.
"Our vision from the beginning has been to deliver a complete, connected experience platform that puts the customer at the heart of every interaction and engagement," said Michael Seifert, CEO, Sitecore. "With this acquisition, our customers can now add enterprise-scale e-commerce capabilities to create truly consistent and personalized experiences."
Sitecore acquired commerceserver.net from SMITH (formerly Ascentium), a global digital experience agency that builds, sells and supports the Commerce Server e-commerce engine. SMITH is also a Sitecore Strategic Commerce Alliance Partner and will continue to work with Sitecore and its customers to develop world-class commerce experiences.
Existing commerceserver.net customers will have the option of utilizing a deep integration between Commerce Server and Sitecore's experience platform or a standalone Commerce Server product that will continue to be supported by Sitecore.
"E-commerce functionality is critical to delivering relevant, personalized experiences for online shoppers, yet current CMS solutions offer poor or non-existent e-commerce integration," said Ryan Donovan, President and CTO at commerceserver.net. "The acquisition of commerceserver.net by Sitecore is great news for customers because it introduces a rich level of integration between commerce, content and digital marketing that has not been achieved by any other vendor. It will also provide a compelling .NET choice for enterprise customers while ensuring a strong and viable future for Commerce Server technology to its sizeable install base."
"SMITH has implemented some of the largest enterprise .NET B2B/B2C e-commerce implementations globally. We look forward to offering customers a tightly integrated .NET based content and commerce solution leveraging our extensive digital marketing capabilities," said SMITH President Tony Marinelli.
