FORT LAUDERDALE, Fla., March 31, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Large companies like Apple or Microsoft do it all the time; assembling truckloads of computers and donating them to a country or school system in need.
But rarely do small foundations, or even startups, have the ability or gumption to execute something as extraordinary--until now.
Reelcause, Inc. has partnered with Friends for Good Health, The Drayton Florence Foundation, The Jack Brewer Foundation and Montessori Model United Nations to donate more than 25 laptops and tablets to Grenada. The computers were handed over to the Permanent Mission of Grenada at the Montessori Model UN closing ceremony at the United Nations Headquarters, on Saturday, March 28, 2015.
Drayton Florence, NFL veteran turned philanthropist and entrepreneur, says that participating in an opportunity like this aligns with his Foundation's overall mission and goals. "The Drayton Florence Foundation strives to make a difference in both local and global communities and schools," he says. "This donation is just one way that we can demonstrate our resolve to provide more educational pathways for children who may not have the same advantages as others."
For Bobby K. Kalotee, Founder and Chairman for Friends for Good Health, the computer donation was a vital step towards bringing first world technology to students who may not have total access. "Our goal with this gift is to help empower the students of Grenada," he says.
His Excellency Denis G. Antoine, Permanent Representative of Grenada to the United Nations, said that the donation will make a significant dent in what he refers to as a technology deficiency in the rural and poor areas of Grenada. "This donation will have an extremely important and positive impact on the Government's and the Ministry of Education's efforts to connect students to the global community," he explains. "The mobile nature in which a tablet or laptop provides opportunity for students to move beyond the classrooms or workstations or centers, that house the limited number of computers, out into the field for further research and collaboration."
