PHOENIX, June 20, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Smith Paknejad PLC is pleased to announce that attorney Pouria Paknejad has been appointed as a Judge Pro Tempore for Arizona Superior Court in Maricopa County. His service term in the civil department will run from July 1, 2016 through June 30, 2017.
Judges pro tempore may cover another judge's calendar when that judge is absent; they are specially appointed attorneys who serve as substitutes for regular judges. In Maricopa County, judges pro tempore are appointed by the Court; usually the Office of the Presiding Judge. Judges pro tempore have all the power and authority of a governor-appointed judge.
"I'm honored to have this opportunity to give back to the community that has given me so much for the past twenty-seven years," Paknejad said, reflecting on his time in Phoenix dating back to childhood. Paknejad's service as judge pro tempore is pro bonopublico, which means it is done "for the public good" without any monetary compensation.
