NEW YORK, Jan. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- The watch retailer Invicta recently added high-resolution LED displays from S|N|A to its new Times Square store at 1535 Broadway. Two S|Video™ video screens were installed as part of the project: one exterior and one interior.
For the outdoor LED display, S|N|A installed a display with an 8 mm pixel pitch, meaning the center of each pixel is only .31" inches from the center of an adjacent pixel. The screen is 8'8" high by 18'11" wide. It consists of 330 pixels high by 720 pixels wide for a total of 237,600 pixels and utilizes surface-mount device (SMD) LED packaging technology.
The LED display is among many in Times Square, one of the busiest tourist areas in the world, and shares the Broadway-facing facade with Times Square's largest LED video display at the Marriott Marquis.
Invicta Stores Director Mauricio Krantzberg said it was important to stay relevant in the highly competitive messaging environment.
"We are obviously in a vibrant environment, and we want to stand out to our customers," said Krantzberg. "The exterior sign is so bright and so vibrant that it can be seen from almost anywhere in the bowtie. Compared to any of the screens in Times Square, we are very happy with ours."
Among the features of the outside retail video display is that it was built using the latest chip set available on the LED market from Nichia Corporation, the world's leading high-end diode manufacturer. This results in more vibrant colors, greater color consistency, and wider viewing experience. In fact, the exterior display features viewing angles of up to 170 degrees.
"The quality of this display is very noticeable when compared to surrounding displays," said S|N|A Vice President Jason Helton. "Many of the square's newer screens utilize a 10 mm pitch, and this exterior 8 mm display really stands out. The extra resolution and quality are extremely noticeable, especially with texts and logos, which is very important in a brand-saturated atmosphere."
For the interior screen, which also utilizes SMD packaging, S|N|A provided a 4 mm (.16") pixel pitch. The high-resolution LED retail display is 4'5" high by 9'6" wide. The display consists of 336 pixels high by 720 pixels wide for a total of 241,920 pixels.
According the Krantzberg, representing the Invicta brand with high-quality imaging and advertising is directly in line with the watch retailer's business model.
"If you want to do something, it's got to be the best way or you don't do it at all," he said. "We offer the best watches, the best quality, and the best value in the market, and we want to portray this attitude with our LED displays, our amazing staff, and our entire store experience."
