Social Media, e-Learning and Novice Education Top List of Nonprofit Education Offerings for Delaware Valley Nonprofits from The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University
PHILADELPHIA, July 1, 2015 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- With nonprofits utilizing social media sites to support fundraising and other activities, The Nonprofit Center at La Salle University's School of Business, is offering numerous programs on new media in its educational offerings, which are now open for online registrations with classes beginning in September.
For more than three decades, The Nonprofit Center has been presenting educational programs designed to strengthen nonprofit organizations in the Greater Philadelphia region by providing their staff, board members, and volunteers with key skills, knowledge and insights.
"Starting every fall, we offer the core skills that every nonprofit needs, including fundraising and nonprofit management, while adding programs that respond to emerging needs and interests of the nonprofit community," said Center Director Laura Otten, Ph.D.
"We are increasing the number and variety of e-learning programs, in response to interest in time-saving and money-saving educational opportunities," she added.
Other new programs include the "Good Start Series," aimed at the special needs of new executive directors, new and aspiring board members and staff new to supervising others.
Continuing a trend for increased emphasis on earning educational credentials, The Nonprofit Center is offering four certificate programs, including nonprofit management, fundraising, marketing/communications and a build-your-own customized certificate. These provide in-depth skills development through a progression of classes, in addition to the bonus of continuing education units from The Nonprofit Center, which is a program of the La Salle University School of Business. "With donors supporting the value of a well-trained staff with the credentials to back it up, certificate programs continue to gain in popularity in the nonprofit sector," Otten said.
