PhilanthropX provides a virtual community for charities, non-profits, NGOs and philanthropic-minded individuals to interact. PhilanthropX users upload their information, ideas, pictures and links in order to help deliver assistance to the needy world in a faster and more efficient manner.
"I find that many times people or groups who are working to solve important issues don't talk with each other because it is too hard to make or keep connections," says Eric Fuller, founder of PhilanthropX. "Too often great ideas start at meetings or conferences, then falter once everyone goes home. PhilanthropX.com is there for users to make friends and maintain relationships, or search the site to find information from others working on the same issues that interest them." So, for example, an individual interested in donating money to help fight global warming could send out an inquiry through the site soliciting charities that do work in that field. Charities or other donors can then comment on his inquiry to present their views on how the donor's resources can be most effectively used. Charities whose focus is to slow global warming can use the site to explain to other similar-minded charities or potential donors what it is that their group does to address the problem. Working together, they can solve problems and accomplish more good with the same or fewer resources.
Fuller founded PhilanthropX using lessons he learned at the Clinton Global Initiative about the power of unity between groups and people who work collaboratively to solve problems. "President Clinton is masterful at forming partnerships to problem solve," says Fuller. "I created PhilanthropX, to provide a forum with that same ability to bring like-minded people together. The goal is basic and straightforward: to keep people talking all year, not just during a conference or after a speech."
