SolarEdge's Next-Generation Optimizers Now Available and Certified for Module Embedding
GRASS VALLEY, California, October 5, 2011 /PRNewswire/ --
SolarEdge Technologies Inc., a leading provider of end-to-end solar power optimization and monitoring solutions, announced today that its newest generation of module-embedded power optimizers is now certified and generally available for sales. The optimizer, certified worldwide as a "recognized PV component" and listed in North America, is embedded as a junction box in smart modules, optimized by SolarEdge.
The new power optimizers have record efficiency of 99.5%, achieved by a new and highly efficient ASIC chipset, a 32% lower part count, and a series of algorithmic advancements. These enable production of up to 25% more energy and faster return on investment in residential, commercial and large-scale PV systems. In addition, the new optimizers provide arc detection and termination capabilities, which can reduce the risk of solar PV related fire and electrocution.
The new technology was already released to the market as an add-on optimizer, and was tested thoroughly by the Photon Magazine labs. Photon Magazine published the test results in its October issue: "The system produced additional yield in all scenarios - even when no shadows were cast." In its publication, Photon praised the benefits of SolarEdge's power optimizers beyond added energy: "When it comes to the features, everything is just right"; "Functions such as module monitoring and automatic module disconnect increase the technical safety and economic stability of the installation."
