SorinRand LLP Announces New Partner
Dror Futter, Leading Technology and Corporate Lawyer, Venture Capitalist and General Counsel to a Top-50 Venture-Backed Company, Joins SorinRand as Partner
EAST BRUNSWICK, N.J., Feb. 1, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- SorinRand LLP today welcomed Dror Futter as a partner of the firm. Futter's practice focuses on technology transactions, venture capital, intellectual property counseling, mergers and acquisitions, and business and finance. With more than 15 years of in-house experience advising high-tech companies and their investors and an additional five years of corporate and technology law experience at major law firms, Dror's background and combined experiences uniquely qualify him to serve SorinRand's client base of startup, early stage, emerging growth, and middle-market technology and tech-enabled enterprises, as well as the investors who support them.
A recognized thought leader in the areas of venture capital and technology transactions, Futter's most recent experience was serving as General Counsel to Vidyo, Inc., one of the nation's top 50 venture-backed companies. In this position, he negotiated and documented sales agreements for direct and indirect channels, software licenses, service agreements, and strategic agreements in the U.S., Asia and Europe. Prior to joining Vidyo, Inc., Futter was a partner and General Counsel of the renowned venture capital fund New Venture Partners LLC, helping to form funds and advise multiple start-ups and corporate spin-offs in the information technology and telecommunications industries, as well as serving as the venture fund's legal counsel.
"SorinRand is characterized by our ability to offer high quality lawyering at a compelling value proposition, coupled with the capacity to create and execute business strategies that increase efficiencies and reduce costs for our clients. In addition to his substantive legal skills, as a former General Counsel of both a venture capital fund and a venture-backed company, Dror brings a unique understanding of how outside counsel can best serve growing technology companies and their investors. Several of us at SorinRand have worked with Dror for many years and we are delighted to have him join the firm as our partner," commented David J. Sorin, Managing Partner at SorinRand.
In addition to his day-to-day practice, Futter is a member of the Association of Corporate Counsel, has repeatedly co-chaired the PLI Seminar of Venture Capital Law and has served on the Model Forms Drafting Group of the National Venture Capital Association. He is admitted to practice in both New Jersey and New York.
"In a relatively short period of time, SorinRand has earned a well-deserved reputation as a "go-to" firm for small to mid-size technology and tech-enabled enterprises. I have seen this first hand as a SorinRand client. Time and again, they have demonstrated to me their obsession with "customer service" and their ability to deliver legal services at a deep cost savings without compromising quality. I look forward to partnering with my new SorinRand colleagues to deliver this value proposition to the firm's highly regarded clientele," commented Dror Futter.
SorinRand partner Jay S. Rand added, "I have had the privilege of knowing Dror for many years, negotiating deals with and opposite him. Dror's skills, commitment, business pragmatism, and character are consistent with the ideals and standards of our firm. I am delighted to welcome him as our partner."
Futter earned his Juris Doctor in 1989 at Columbia University and graduated magna cum laude from Princeton University in 1986. He also earned an Executive MBA in 1999 from the American Electronics Association Executive Institute of Stanford University.
