TACOMA, Wash., Sept. 25, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sound Physicians, a leading hospitalist organization focused on driving improvements in quality, satisfaction and financial performance of inpatient healthcare delivery, announced today an agreement to provide hospitalist services for Wyckoff Heights Medical Center in Brooklyn, N.Y.
According to Ramon Rodriguez, Wyckoff's President and CEO, the hospitalist program is designed to provide better access to physicians and more continuity of care for patients during their hospital stay. "I am excited about any initiative which improves the quality of patient care," Mr. Rodriguez said. "Our hospitalist program enables Wyckoff, as a community hospital, to make a doctor available 24 hours a day, seven days a week to the patient. That supports our goal to improve and maintain patient satisfaction."
Chief Medical Officer Gustavo Del Toro, MD, explained that Sound Physicians will provide hospitalist services for a 45-bed unit of medical/surgical patients including those admitted through the emergency department. "The hospitalists will manage all facets of patients' hospitalization from admission to discharge. This includes consultations with primary care physicians and communication with patients' families."
Robert Bessler, MD, CEO of Sound Physicians, added, "We are proud to partner with Wyckoff Heights Medical Center. They share our mission of providing the highest quality of care through engaged hospitalist physicians and evidence-based practices."
Dr. Stephanie Salas, a board-certified internist with over 10 years of hospitalist experience and a master's degree in Health Science Education, was selected as the chief hospitalist for the program. Dr. Salas' team includes seven hospitalist physicians and a hospitalist nurse who works closely with the hospitalists to drive performance improvements in quality, satisfaction and efficiency.
"These are all highly skilled physicians. We are pleased to welcome them to Wyckoff, and we look forward to working with Sound Physicians to serve our patients, and our community, better," Dr. Del Toro added.
Working with Wyckoff Heights Medical Center's team, Sound Physicians will introduce its SoundConnect workflow and communications platform and processes to drive improvements in inpatient care outcomes, as well as financial performance.
