South Jersey Healthcare Selects Perioperative Management By Surgical Information Systems Advanced Interoperability, Quality Reporting, and Clinician Satisfaction Drive Decision
ATLANTA, March 13, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Surgical Information Systems ('SIS'), a leader in perioperative information systems, announced today that South Jersey Healthcare (SJH), a two-hospital health system headquartered in Bridgeton, NJ, selected Perioperative Management by SIS for organizations using Soarian® Clinicals from Siemens Healthcare. The solution replaces a legacy scheduling system. SJH was seeking a fully automated electronic perioperative record that would be interoperable with Soarian Clinicals to help make patient information easily accessible where needed throughout the facility.

Interoperability between Soarian and SIS was critically important to clinicians at SJH. Single sign-on, and patient and application context sharing, help enable clinicians to access information and document care without duplicating efforts. For example, a pre-op nurse can document the patient's assessment and verify and administer medications for that patient directly within the perioperative management system. Administered medications are then documented in both the perioperative and enterprise patient records.
Perioperative Management by SIS will support SJH's goal to create a single enterprise patient record with patient information that is easily accessible in both the OR documentation system and enterprise electronic health record (EHR). The solution includes modules for:
- Surgical scheduling, including preadmission testing, to help reduce day-of-surgery delays and cancellations;
- Nursing documentation and anesthesia information management system (AIMS) designed to streamline clinical workflows;
- Rules-based charging to accurately capture and bill charges;
- Role-based analytics to assist in better understanding and managing surgical operations, including quality reporting; and,
- Integrated tissue tracking to help standardize processes, accurately track tissues, reduce waste, and manage tissue inventory.

Because the analytics tools are very dynamic, they will help me make sound business decisions based on the latest information."
SJH is the most recent of several Soarian Clinicals customers to select Perioperative Management by SIS.
