NEW YORK, May 24, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- Digital Broadcasting Group (DBG), the leading creator, producer and distributor of premium video content across digital media, today announced the official launch of SPACES, the company's new original home and design channel on YouTube. The new channel is part of YouTube's original channel initiative announced in October 2011.
The official launch of SPACES was reported exclusively today in The New York Times' Home & Garden section: http://nyti.ms/KVjV9O
SPACES is currently live with four new original series, including Your Place is a Deal Breaker, I Live With My Mom, OffBeat Spaces, and Profiles in Design, and is in development on a number of additional series to launch in the coming weeks and months. The channel is also home to a host of regular, daily feature series like Room Tours! and INspaces, both of which are hosted by SPACES' very own Erika Storm Wasser.
Developed, produced and edited entirely by DBG, SPACES (www.youtube.com/SpacesTV) provides a unique, fresh angle on home and design for urbanites and cool hunters within the art, fashion, architecture, and design world. Its lean-forward programming slate totally clashes with your old Lazy-Boy, serving up the inspiration and innovation of top designers and hands-on professionals with an advice-driven spirit.
"To us, SPACES reflects DBG's vision of what home & design programming on the web should be: inspirational, educational, and highly-addicting," said DBG Chief Creative Officer Joseph Gomes. "We have a passion for storytelling and big screen production values at DBG, and I think viewers will appreciate the high-quality, fresh content they'll see uploaded to the SPACES channel every week."
"We have an amazing opportunity to offer the YouTube community a taste of what's possible in original programming for the web," said DBG CEO Chris Young. "We pulled out all the stops for the SPACES channel and look forward to entertaining audiences with this dynamic slate of shows."
The SPACES programming lineup includes regularly scheduled daily and weekly shows. The current slate of shows is as follows:
Your Place is a Deal Breaker
Starring interior designer and TV personality Vanessa Deleon (Food Network's "Restaurant Impossible," HGTV's "Generation Renovation"), this show spotlights couples who have recently moved in with each other and are faced with home decor that is tearing them apart. Each week, Deleon breaks down design and communication barriers and surprises the couple with a completely redesigned space.
I Live With My Mom
For many post-grads, there's a fear greater than finding a new job and earning that first paycheck -- moving back home into their childhood room. In each episode, professional interior designer Tracy Metro (OWN's "Home Made Simple, TLC's "Designing Spaces") visits 20-somethings still living at home and helps give their childhood rooms an adult makeover.
OffBeat Spaces showcases some of the quirkiest living quarters in America, including a real treehouse, an origami apartment, one of the smallest apartments in America, and the tents of Occupy Wall Street. This is the show that proves only imagination limits your space.
Profiles in Design
This weekly show is filled with short biographies about some incredible interior designers, their work, and their impact on the industry at large.
