EDISON, N.J., Dec. 6, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- The Spiegelau and Nachtmann fine glassware lines officially announced today a strategic partnership whereby Libbey Inc. will become the sole U.S. foodservice market distributor of Spiegelau and Nachtmann glassware and serveware products to the U.S. foodservice industry, effective February 1, 2013.
Considered "The Class of Glass," Spiegelau's five-century history has established its reputation for making a broad range of upscale glassware that is both beautifully designed and resoundingly durable. Nachtmann, also a heritage brand, offers a variety of quality serveware, decorative products, stemware and drinkware. Through this agreement, Libbey Inc. - the leading supplier of tableware to the U.S. foodservice industry – is able to offer a variety of premium glassware choices for U.S. foodservice customers.
"Three great brands are joining together to fully serve the U.S. foodservice industry," said Richard Voit, managing director of Spiegelau and Nachtmann. "We were attracted to Libbey because it possesses many of the same attributes as Spiegelau and Nachtmann including a strong heritage and a reputation for high quality products. That, combined with a high performing sales team and effective distribution network, makes this agreement a mutually beneficial arrangement."
"We are so pleased that Spiegelau and Nachtmann will be joining the Libbey family. This agreement directly supports our strategic goal to further grow our business in the foodservice industry," said Stephanie Streeter, chief executive officer, Libbey Inc. "These new choices for stemware and serveware certainly extend our high quality premium offerings. We can now provide our foodservice customers with the broadest tabletop choices available in the U.S."
Acquired by Riedel Glassworks in 2004, Spiegelau and Nachtmann offer premium brand stemware, drinkware and serveware. Founded in Germany in 1521, Spiegelau is known for fine stemware and drinkware as well as affordable, foodservice glassware. Spiegelau's Platinum Glass is chip resistant and is especially suitable for commercial dishwashers. Nachtmann has been manufacturing upscale crystal serveware, decorative products, stemware and drinkware for finer dining establishments since 1843.
