TURLOCK, Calif., June 8, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- Father's Day has always been a day of celebration for the Gemperle family. In the early days we knew that our dad was waking up early all year long to tend to our chickens, so it was important for us to take the time to appreciate all his hard work.
"Since taking over the farm from my dad, the late Ernie Gemperle, I now understand all the hard work that goes into running a farm and being a father," says Gemperle Family Farms President Steve Gemperle. "Father's Day is a great opportunity to show your appreciation and spoil all the hardworking fathers in your life."
Rain or shine, farming is a tough job. As a farming family, the days still start early and don't end until all the hard work is done around Gemperle Farms. This often includes waking up in the wee hours of the morning to give the baby chicks some special attention and carries past sunset as we work to get the hens settled down and all the business completed for the day. As we like to do at Gemperle Family Farms, plan ahead, wake up early and surprise dad with a special breakfast in bed this Father's Day to thank him for his tireless work.
Kids love getting involved and spoiling dad with an easy-to-make breakfast served in bed. Gemperle Farms recommends anything with eggs and bacon because as any dad will say, you can't go wrong with that combination! Additionally, bacon and eggs are easy to make with the kids help, and it comes together in a flash. Simply prep the ingredients the night before along with a big tray, small table linen, napkin and silverware. Once breakfast is ready, arrange it all on the tray complete with dad's preferred magazine or Sunday morning newspaper and a fresh cup of coffee served in his cherished mug.
At Gemperle Farms, we like to treat dad to a three-egg scramble with bacon and cheese, a handful of mixed summer berries served in dad's favorite bowl, whole wheat toast and a side of even more bacon. Because there is never enough bacon, right? Complete the meal with coffee and orange juice. See below for a Gemperle Farms recommended breakfast in bed recipe that requires only minimum supervision and lets the kids kick off Father's Day with ease.
Start the day off right by having the kids deliver this Father's Day treat in bed. As they serve dad his special surprise, let the kids jump on the bed yelling a big, "I love you, Dad" and "Happy Father's Day."
"I Love You Dad" - Basic Egg and Bacon Scramble

- Beat eggs, milk, salt and pepper in a bowl. Add crumbled bacon.
- Heat a large skillet over medium heat. Add butter and melt.
- Pour in the egg mixture. With a spatula, gently push the eggs across the pan and fold them over a few times until they are puffy and firm.
- Remove from heat, sprinkle with cheddar cheese and serve immediately on Dad's favorite plate.
Bacon Taste Test Platter
With the explosion of bacon's popularity, there is more to bacon than just Canadian bacon and your average strips. Butchers now offer dozens of types of bacon. At Gemperle Farms, our favorites include maple-cured, Canadian and applewood-smoked, but now it's time for you to decide. Why not prepare three or four different types of bacon for a fun taste test platter to serve to dad in bed? Just remember to use the kitchen fan as you prepare the bacon, so dad does not wake up to the smell of bacon until breakfast is served.
