Comprehensive technology implementation will support pari-mutuel wagering through web and land-based distribution channels and includes on-going operational services

May 09, 2013, 08:00 ET from Sportech Racing LLC

NEW HAVEN, Conn., May 9, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Sportech Racing LLC, a division of Sportech PLC (LSE: SPO), announces that it has signed a contract with Danske Spil of Denmark to provide a pari-mutuel Tote Betting System (TBS).   Danske Spil is a state owned company that – in addition to tote betting – offers betting, poker, casino and lottery products to the Danish Market through their 4,500 retailers and, one of the largest e-business sites in Denmark with more than 600,000 consumers.  The contract will commence with delivery scheduled for May 2014 and an initial term of 5 years with two optional extension periods.  The contracting company is Sportech's wholly owned subsidiary, Racing Technology Ireland.

The solution for Danske Spil is anchored by Sportech's Quantum System, which will be joined with Sportech's G4 interactive betting framework to distribute tote betting products through Danske Spil's successful and broadly-distributed e-gaming website, as well as their land-based retail channels, with integration to external wallet services, global racing and betting partners, third party data providers and interfaces to new and existing wagering devices.

The solution will integrate with Danske Spil's facilities for back-office operation and reporting to provide data across multiple functions such as business intelligence, customer relationship management, financial reporting and regulatory reporting.

Sportech will host the Tote Betting Solution from a Sportech data center in Europe, while fully managing the Tote Betting System with services including maintenance, development and operations from the company's dedicated infrastructure and operations center in Mount Laurel, New Jersey, U.S.A.   Denmark will be the largest customer from outside North America – and the first from Europe – to be operated from Sportech's New Jersey facility.

Andrew Gaughan, Managing Director of Sportech Racing, stated:  "Sportech is very proud and delighted to announce this agreement with Danske Spil.  This contract perfectly exemplifies Sportech Racing's strategy of leveraging our proven Quantum tote system, introducing our new G4 interactive framework to integrate with Danske Spil's web distribution channels, and then providing day-to-day operations to a customer in Europe from our dedicated operations center in the U.S.A., where they can connect to multiple international pools from throughout North America, Europe, Latin America and elsewhere.  It is particularly satisfying that a highly successful gaming operator such as Danske Spil has recognized the advantages that can be achieved through the investment that Sportech has made and continues to make in innovations that will benefit all Sportech Racing customers."

Sportech was awarded the contract after a competitive tender process that evaluated bidder solutions for quality, operation, implementation and price.

Hans Christian Madsen, Managing Director of Danske Spil commented:  "We are looking forward to working with Sportech and the new Tote Betting System to offer our players new tote betting products, expand our commingling activities globally and integrate with our current and emerging web and land based distribution channels."
