Sporting Clay Shoot To Fund Ethiopian Non-Profit Organization, Trampled Rose
The Bob Carlone Memorial Shoot Set to Take Place on October 7, 2017
COLORADO SPRINGS, Colo., Sept. 27, 2017 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 7, 2017, the Bob Carlone Memorial Sporting Clay Shoot will take place at the Pikes Peak Gun Club in Colorado Springs. All proceeds from the event, which is hosted by the Rotary Club of East Colorado Springs, will benefit the Trampled Rose, a non-profit organization focused on empowering young at-risk women in Ethiopia.
This year marks the seventh occurrence of the event, which attracts participants from all over the region to try their skills at the sport of clay shooting -- where participants use shotguns to try to obliterate clay targets hurled through the air.
"We wanted to create an event that brought people together but was a bit different from typical fundraisers," said Trampled Rose founder and President of the East Colorado Springs Rotary Club Becky Kiser. "Ultimately, this has turned into the biggest fundraiser for the Trampled Rose and has been instrumental in our efforts to help young women in Ethiopia. It's truly an amazing event and so much fun."
The event is named for long-time Rotarian Bob Carlone. Carlone is best known for his lifetime of service to others, first as a pilot in Vietnam (he retired as a Colonel) and then as he co-founded Home Front Cares, an organization dedicated to helping veterans and their families. He was a member of the Rotary Club of East Colorado Springs for several decades and is missed by all.
The Trampled Rose was started in 2003 after Kiser traveled to Ethiopia and saw the tragedy of women who lost all hope for the future at a startlingly young age. Kiser made it her life's goal to help these girls, by empowering them through education and meeting their basic human needs. Through the work of Kiser, the Trampled Rose, and its volunteers, the organization has helped hundreds of young women reach their potential.
