Sports Video Innovations' SchuttVision Helmet Camera Puts Coaches and Fans on the Field
SHREVEPORT, La., May 28, 2014 /PRNewswire-iReach/ -- Sport Video Innovations (SVI) is changing the way football coaches, fans and players see the game with their high-definition (HD) video helmet camera technology.
SVI's technology is both rugged enough and streamlined enough to safely integrate within the nose bumper of the SchuttVision helmet. The resulting point of view is unique and puts fans closer to the action, gives coaches an incredible teaching and recruiting tool, and offers players the ability to improve their skills with first-hand replays of game and practice footage. The SchuttVision helmet is safe and National Operating Committee on Standards for Athletic Equipment (NOCSAE) compliant. It can be used by players at any position, even in game situations.
Auburn Equipment Manager Dana Marquez says, "SchuttVision has been a beneficial product as it has given our coaches and players a first-hand understanding of our quarterback's pre-snap reads and decision making prior to the ball being snapped."
SVI announced their first partnership with the Arena Football League early this year to bring SchuttVision helmet cameras to the field during games, and that relationship continues to strengthen. Just four months later, more than 30 teams in the NCAA and NFL have adopted the helmets, and that number continues to grow.
SVI's camera delivers 720p HD video at 30 frames per second, with 2.5 hours of battery life and a removable SD Card for media storage. Streaming video is planned for late 2014.
"It's an engineering marvel," saysSVI founder and CEO JR Liverman. "We knew we had a good helmet, and we knew we had good video technology, but what got everyone excited was how durable both the integrated camera and helmet were no matter what kind of pounding they took. Even with the camera turned off, this is a helmet that performs very safely in full-contact game competition."

Because the camera technology can potentially be used in any helmet, Liverman plans to expand to baseball, lacrosse and hockey, or even hard hats for construction and utility works and in the oil fields. "Our vision for this technology goes far beyond the football field. This is a real game changer in more than one way; it gives us a point of view we've never seen before," he says.
