COMMERCE TOWNSHIP, Mich., Dec. 18, 2015 /PRNewswire/ -- With a donation of 500 wireless speakers, HoMedics® — parent company of JAM Wireless Audio — is hoping to help spread a little extra joy this holiday season to underprivileged children across the country. The company is partnering with TODAY's 22nd annual Toy Drive to give the gift of cheer over the holidays to those that need it the most.

"Music is a universal form of entertainment and enjoyment," says Marty O'Gorman, President of HoMedics. "With our HMDX and JAM® speaker lines, we are deeply entrenched in the world of sound. So we realized we had something great at our disposal and donating these speakers is a way for us to make the season a bit brighter for hundreds of kids and teens who may otherwise not get the joy of unwrapping any presents over the holidays."

Since 1994, the TODAY Toy Drive has helped more than 4 million underprivileged children. With the help of contributors like HoMedics, they have been able to distribute about $395 million in donations to more than 180 organizations across the country and to U.S. military bases abroad.

"Our goal is to help spread holiday cheer the best way we know how," says O'Gorman. "To that end, we hope our gift will provide the connected experience of the joy of music throughout the holidays and beyond."

The donations through the TODAY toy drive are in addition to donations and outreach that HoMedics traditionally does in the Detroit area including participation in the "Adopt A Family" program.  The speaker donation from HoMedics will reach children and teens through organizations in California, New York, New Jersey and Arkansas.
