SHANGHAI, March 22, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Spreadtrum Communications ("Spreadtrum"), a leading fabless semiconductor company in China with advanced technology in 2G, 3G, and 4G wireless communication standards, today announced that its WCDMA/HSPA+ chipset SC7727SE has been adopted for Samsung newly released Galaxy J1/SM-J120H smart phones.
The Samsung Galaxy J1 (2016)/ SM-J120H Android 5.1 Lollipop based model is the variant version of first dual sim card Galaxy J smart phone with dual standby. The 4.5" FWVGA (480×854 pixels) super AMOLED model powered with Spreadtrum's 28nm 1.2GHz quad-core WCDMA platform SC7727SE features a 1GB RAM, a Mali 400 GPU for high performance graphics, a 5 megapixel rear camera and a 2 megapixel front camera. It comes with 8GB on-board storage which can be expanded up to 128GB using MicroSD Card.
The highly integrated WCDMA platform consists 28nm quad-core WCDMA/HSPA(+) GSM/GPRS baseband chip SC7727SE, RF chip SR3532S and Spreadtrum's 3in1 connectivity chip SC2331S.
For the first time, Spreadtrum embedded its self-developed power management IC into its baseband chip, a great technology overall enhancement for Spreadtrum's bundle chipset. This solution reduces cost when offering a turnkey platform for customers and they can enjoy a more flexible PCB design advantage when making the product optimization.
"We're pleased to work with Samsung for its newly released product, Galaxy new J1," said Dr. Leo Li, chairman and CEO of Spreadtrum Communications. "Spreadtrum is always dedicated to provide optimized mobile solutions working with Samsung. For the first time by integrating power management IC into our baseband chip, we are able to help further improve end-market retail prices. This can help further open up mass market demand globally."
