Square Enix Enlists Midnight Oil Agency for the Tomb Raider Franchise 20th Anniversary
Agency Produces Original Content, Connecting Fans to the Brand with a New Experience
BURBANK, Calif., Nov. 3, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Square Enix and Midnight Oil have come together to develop a unique game show experience to celebrate 20 years of the Tomb Raider Franchise, in support of the release of Rise of the Tomb Raider: 20 Year Celebration for the PlayStation 4.
Inspired by classic game shows from the 80s and 90s and hosted by Jessica Chobot, this event brought together 12 Internet icons as they competed in a series of challenges inspired by Lara's adventures over the past 20 years of gaming. Participants competed for a chance to complete the Tomb Run, claim the Golden Climbing Axe and be crowned the ultimate Tomb Raiders – taking home prize money for themselves and their favorite charity!
Midnight Oil produced two episodes, which were launched last month on the official Tomb Raider Facebook and YouTube pages. Contestants included Melonie Mac, Doug Le of Nukem Dukem, Jessica Villarreal, "Atomic" Mari Takahashi, Jake & Logan from Team Epiphany, Swiftor, Pamela Horton, Nick Gregorio, Fairlight Excalibur, Peter Paras of GameRevolution, and Malik Forte.
Episode 1 - debuted exclusively on The Chive October 12th.

This campaign comes on the heels of Midnight Oil and Square Enix's "Rise of the Tomb Raider: Scavenger Hunt" initiative, the return of a fan-favorite program featuring new trivia, photo and social challenges every week. Participating fans earned points and unlocked awesome Rise of the Tomb Raider in-game DLC, and a handful of lucky winners will also win amazing prizes like ATVs, GoPros, and one epic Arctic adventure.
