Square Shooters® Dice Game to Donate up to $3,500 to Autism Speaks
-Donation based on Facebook Likes Received in April-
CLEVELAND, April 3, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- According to Autism Speaks, autism affects one in 88 children and "is the fastest-growing developmental disability in the U.S." To help fund research, Cleveland, Ohio-based manufacturer Heartland Consumer Products, LLC, marketer of the Square Shooters® game, announces its campaign to support Autism Speaks: for every "like" received on the Square Shooters Facebook page in April -- Autism Awareness Month -- the company will donate $1 to the organization, up to $3,500.
Launched in 2011, Square Shooters is a multi-faceted game consisting of a deck of cards on dice. "The game's versatility is key," said Tom Donelan, Heartland's CEO. "It can play as a matching game for kids or a game of chance for adults. Whatever the age, Square Shooters can bring everyone together."
Donelan's son Connor is a 19-year-old young man with autism. "Dice games are perfect for families who need fast-paced games that require little attention from every player. We found that the game fit our family's play style when Connor picked up the dice and started playing. We hope that families -- affected by autism or not -- will have a similar experience. Supporting autism is personal for us and we're excited to give back to the community."
Some would say a deck of cards on dice is overdue. The game was developed by Carmelyn Calvert, Eldred, Ill., who determined it was possible to print 54 playing cards on nine dice in a way suitable to play a range of games. Square Shooters (MSRP $12.99/Basic Set; $19.99/Deluxe Set) is designed for one or more players ages 8 and up. For more information, visit www.squareshooters.com.
