MIAMI, Feb. 13, 2013 /PRNewswire-USNewswire/ -- St. Thomas University School of Business (www.stu.edu/business) is hosting next Wednesday, February 20, 2013 the Entrepreneurship Lecture entitled "Being a CEO/Managing Partner in a Large Corporation", as part of its AT&T Entrepreneur Lecture Series. It will be held on campus, 16401 NW 37 Avenue, Miami Gardens, in Kennedy Hall Room 201 from 3:30-5:00 PM.
As part of creating dynamic learning experiences for its students, the St. Thomas University School of Business launched a Distinguished Business Lecture Series in Academic Year 2011/2012. The goal was to expose students to uniquely successful business leaders and to show them different models for business achievement. A key aspect of all the lectures was the integration of ethics and personal responsibility into the message shared by the presenters. Speakers included business leaders such as Michael B. Fernandez (MBF Healthcare Partners); Cesar Alvarez, Esq. (Greenberg, Traurig); Jorge Mas (MasTec); Manny Medina (Medina Capital Partners); and Oscar Feldenkreis (Perry Ellis).
For 2013, the School of Business received a $20,000 corporate sponsorship from AT&T to host the 2013 AT&T Distinguished Business Lecture Series. Thanks to the series many of St. Thomas students, for the first time, will meet a prominent figure from South Florida business face-to-face. There will be four lectures, reflecting different aspects of business success and business philosophies. The February 20 panelists represent key industry clusters in South Florida, from media and telecommunications to professional services - like accounting - and construction/development. Among the presenters are Raul Alarcon, CEO of Spanish Broadcasting System; Marshall Criser, CEO of AT&T of Florida; and Oscar Suarez, an STU alumnus who is Managing Partner for Florida Ernst & Young. Recognized economist and School of Business Dean Tony Villamil will moderate the event.
The format of the panel will consist of one hour of facilitated questions by Dean Tony Villamil and half-an-hour of questions from the audience. STU students (both undergraduate and graduate level) along with faculty, administrators and some University board members will be in attendance, as the lecture's purpose is mainly to educate students about the role of the CEO in a company; the path to becoming a CEO; and the vision each business leader has for his industry in the near future.
