"Michigan had a critical role in this year's election as one of the closely watched states. As a state, we come together to celebrate the Inaugural as Americans," says event chair Debbie Dingell.
Honored guests for the night include Michigan's Multi-jurisdictional Mounted Police Drill Team and Color Guard, and the Military Spouses of Michigan, who will be marching in the official Inaugural Parade earlier in the day. Homemade Michigan favorites including wild duck breasts, cherry barbeque meatballs and Coho Salmon will be featured. Locally grown Michigan apples and black walnuts will top some dishes, and dessert highlights include a Sander's Ice Cream Sundae Station, and Fort Mackinaw Fudge, both favorites of the state. Even the ladies lounges will be adorned with Michigan favorites – Geranium soap and hand cream, made exclusively for the Grand Hotel on Mackinac Island, Michigan, have been donated.
