State of South Carolina Awards Web and Audio Conferencing Contract to Level 3 Services Enable More Efficient Operations Across State Organizations
BROOMFIELD, Colo., Aug. 21, 2013 /PRNewswire/ -- Level 3 Communications, Inc. (NYSE: LVLT) today announced that it has been awarded a five-year contract from the State of South Carolina to provide Web and audio conferencing services to government organizations statewide.
Access to these Level 3 collaboration services will help agencies to share work and leverage collective knowledge across departments, agencies, time zones and geographies without the associated costs of traveling to in-person meetings.
"Like many states, the State of South Carolina has budget pressures, but it's not letting those pressures compromise how it serves its citizens; in fact, it's capitalizing on that pressure to improve how it serves the state," said Edward Morche, senior vice president and general manager of Level 3's Government Markets Group. "With these services, the State of South Carolina is virtually removing time, financial and geographic boundaries and ambiguity that can stand in the way of effectively collaborating on important projects or making time-sensitive decisions. That not only helps the government, it helps its citizens."
By offering these services to the state's agencies and organizations, the State of South Carolina can also unlock the benefits of telework, or allowing employees to work remotely as needed, which can support the state's business continuity plans should weather or other situations make it dangerous for employees to travel to government offices.
Level 3's easy-to-use Web collaboration services enable employees to work together to create documents, conduct Web meetings, share desktops and present webinars in a secure and safe environment. In addition, Level 3 Ready-Access audio conferencing service allows agencies to connect employees securely wherever they are with global conferencing dial-in numbers, recordings and in-conference user functionality.
