Statement of Marc J. Bern, Senior Partner, Worby Groner Edelman & Napoli Bern, LLP on the James Zadroga Health and Compensation Act
NEW YORK, June 10 /PRNewswire/ -- We continue to strongly support the James Zadroga Health and Compensation Act and believe it can work together with the WTC Amended Settlement Process Agreement presented to the Court today.
We call on Congress to amend the Zadroga Act so that our clients will not be penalized for participating in a settlement that guarantees immediate and just compensation. We believe the benefits of Zadroga should also be available to individuals who participate in this settlement and that payments received by an individual under the settlement can be deducted from any additional compensation he or she might qualify for under Zadroga. This would have the added benefit of reducing the cost of the legislation which, in our opinion would make it much more likely to pass.
