As part of the celebration of the International Year of Statistics, representatives from the federal statistical agencies are hosting a symposium on Nov. 13 and 14 that will highlight the variety of federal statistics and the statistical careers available in the public sector. The Symposium of the U.S. Statistical Agencies will be held at the Bureau of Labor Statistics Conference Center in Washington, D.C.
The two-day event will allow attendees to learn about the federal statistical agencies, the range of statistics each produces as well as how to pursue a career as a government statistician. Sessions will focus on the nation's economy, health statistics, statistics for journalists and government's use of APIs (application programming interfaces), mobile apps, data visualization and infographics.
