ATLANTA, Oct. 29, 2012 /PRNewswire/ -- On October 20, 2012, Storage Post Self Storage's Yonkers location participated in the first-ever Yonkers Community Garden October-Fest. Nearly 500 community residents and garden members attended the event, many of whom visited Storage Post's booth space.
The Community Garden October-Fest was held on Buena Vista Street in Yonkers, New York near the Hudson River. Storage Post's Yonkers employees volunteered at the event, manning the Storage Post booth and providing water and fruit to attendees. Storage Post also provided festival entertainment, including face painting and balloon animal creation.
"Storage Post really encourages employees to take part in local events, which is why the Yonkers location partnered with the Greyston Foundation for the Community Garden October-Fest. We had a great time and enjoyed connecting with the community," said Yonkers manager Kenneth McGuire.
Storage Post donates time, entertainment and refreshments to a number of Greystone Foundation occasions every year. The Greyston Foundation is a social-enterprise organization with a network of for-profit and not-for-profit entities that work to create community self-sufficiency for individuals and families. Its programs include workforce development, low-income housing and community gardens.
In addition to the Yonkers location, Storage Post storage facilities across the United States attend festivals, participate in local events, volunteer for charitable collections and engage with customers and neighbors.
