CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va., Sept. 13, 2016 /PRNewswire/ -- Perrigo Nutritionals announced today that store brand Advantage® infant formula, sold under retailers' own labels, or "store brands," received high marks from pediatricians in a new infant formula survey by Clinician Reports. The July 2016 Pediatrics Issue reports that store brand Advantage® infant formula compares favorably to the nutrition of the nationally advertised brand, Similac® Advance® Infant Formula.†
Clinician Reports asked 20 independent pediatricians to test store brand Advantage® infant formula with their newborn patients for eight weeks. Overall, store brand Advantage® received an "A" rating with high marks in all categories.* Pediatricians found the store brand nutritionally comparable to the nationally advertised brand, well tolerated by infants, easy to prepare, and a great value for the money.
Perrigo's Executive Vice President & President, Consumer Healthcare - Americas, Jeff Needham stated, "It comes as no surprise that store brand Advantage® infant formula received high marks from healthcare professionals in this survey. All infant formulas sold in the United States must meet the same FDA standards. More and more pediatricians and consumers realize high quality store brands are nutritionally comparable to nationally advertised brands and offer more value with up to 50 percent savings** versus higher priced nationally advertised brands."
