The enhanced STORServer backup appliances powered by TSM extend STORServer's commitment to deliver simplicity, power and trusted support for enterprise data protection, enabling customers to begin corporate-wide backup operations in less than one day.

The combination of an easy-to-use STORServer-developed interface and IBM software are designed to increase data availability and automate global deduplication, advanced replication and optimized virtualized backup capabilities.  Customers with existing software maintenance contracts can upgrade their IBM Tivoli Storage Manager environments to the latest version, release 7.1.1.100, at no additional charge.

Increased Data Availability with Deduplication, Replication and Virtualized Backup

STORServer offers five appliance models powered by the latest release of TSM version 7.1.1.100. The TSM BA641 appliance is sized for corporate departments or branch offices. The four Enterprise Backup Appliance models -- EBA852, EBA1502, EBA2502 and EBA3502 -- are ideal for larger organizations with multiple petabytes of data to protect.

STORServer is also upgrading the appliances with faster "Ivy Bridge" generation of Intel Xeon processors, which now support up to 10 processing cores and higher embedded cache memory while lowering overall power consumption.  In addition to the latest TSM data protection software, STORServer also enhanced management features including:
